Build Better Communities Communities
Individual rehabilitation is an important part of building improved communities. Do you have resources to assist individuals with dyslexia? We can evaluate your institution's current dyslexia support, and your screening and service provision processes.
If you don't currently have a program for dyslexic individuals, we can help you create one or offer ways you can supplement your current methods. We offer instructional support at all levels.

The best support for dyslexic individuals begins with compassionate and knowledgeable staff. Does your institution need certified dyslexia teachers? We offer individual or whole-group professional development and can customize half-day or full-day workshops that address how to best assist clients with dyslexia. Our workshops are tailored to fit staff needs and those of individuals they oversee or connect with each day.
Screening for dyslexia is optimal at the end of kindergarten if a child has an unexpected difficulty with reading. Unfortunately, due to the prevalence of dyslexia, many children and adults go undiagnosed for quite some time. An accurate diagnosis can significantly help adults in need of rehabilitation. DRC offers reliable and affordable screening to state and private agencies using the Shaywitz Dyslexia Screener.
Become a Certified Academic Language Therapist or Practitioner (CALT or CALP) with our Dyslexia Therapy Training Program. Our 6-course-plus-practicum program is delivered annually each May and covers the science of reading, the science of dyslexia and an in-depth study of the structure of the English language using the most recent evidence-based support.
Our online tutoring program uses evidence-based practices that can help individuals with dyslexia learn how to read and/or comprehend what they've read. Our tutors are Certified Academic Language Therapists/Practitioners (CALT/P) or currently training with us under the direct supervision of a CALT/P Qualified Instructor.
Standard tutoring sessions focus on:
We offer a range of therapeutic options ranging from small groups to individual sessions. One-hour tutoring sessions are held three times per week. If your institution has a CALT or CALP, and they're interested in helping people with dyslexia, they may be interested in becoming a DRC tutor. Call to learn more.
The Shaywitz Dyslexia Screener can be used by trained clinicians or educational specialists in Correctional Institutions or other Agencies to identify individuals who may have difficulty in learning, reading and writing. It consists of five components designed to assess phonetic decoding fluency, oral reading fluency skills as well as memory for words tasks among other assessments.
The screening process can help provide intervention services for individuals to succeed academically and socially. Proper identification of dyslexia can also reduce recidivism rates, as individuals are more empowered when they have access to resources and support.
